Stade 5 Juillet 1962

Stade 5 Juillet 1962 refers to the day Algeria declared independence from France. The stadium in Algiers is currently used mostly for football matches and it also has an athletics track. The stadium holds 66 000 and was built in 1976. It held the 1978 All-Africa Games and the 2007 All-Africa Games. It is used by the national football team of Algeria and MC Alger. The club is regarded by many as the most popular football team in Algeria. MC Alger won several national cups and championships, just like their arch rivals from the same city, USM Alger.
