Estadio Gigante de Arroyito

Estadio Gigante de Arroyito is a football stadium in the Lisandro de la Torre barrio of the city of Rosario. It is the home of Rosario Central. The stadium was originally opened in 1929 and remodeled to concrete in three stages: The first in 1957, the second in 1963 and the third in 1968. The stadium was remodeled between 1974 1978 in preparation for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. It has a capacity of 41 000, although it does not provide seating for all of them, like many Argentine football stadiums. In the 1978 FIFA World Cup, all three second-round games of the Argentine national football team were played in the stadium. Local hero Mario Kempes enjoyed the support of the fans and went on to become the top scorer of the tournament.
