Castelão, also known as Estádio Plácido Aderaldo Castelo or Gigante da Boa Vista, is a football stadium inaugurated in November 1973 in Fortaleza. It has a maximum capacity of 69 000 people. The stadium is owned by Ceará, and is the home ground of Ceará SC and Fortaleza EC. Its name honors Plácido Aderaldo Castelo, Ceará governor from September 1966 to March 1971, and was the stadium construction idealizer.
In May 2000, Ceará decided to reform the stadium. The reformations were divided in three parts, and started in May 2001.
