Kyocera Arena
The Kyocera Arena, also known as Arena da Baixada or Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães, is a football stadium in Curitiba, inaugurated in June 1914. It has a maximum capacity of 25 000 people and is owned by Atlético Paranaense, the tenant of the stadium. Joaquim Américo Guimarães, a former chairman, started the stadium's construction in 1912.
In the 1970s, the stadium was deactivated, being reopened in 1984. In March 1997, the stadium was demolished, right after a construction project of a new arena was announced. In 2005, the stadium was renamed Kyocera Arena, after the Japanese company Kyocera purchased the naming rights.
