Estádio Municipal João Havelange
Estádio Municipal João Havelange, also known as Parque do Sabiá, is a stadium in Uberlândia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Uberlândia EC. The stadium was built in 1982 and is able to hold 75 000 people. It is owned by Uberlândia. It was inaugurated in May 1982, as Parque do Sabiá.
In 1995, the stadium was renamed to Estádio Municipal João Havelange, after the former FIFA president. However, the new name was not very popular among the football fans, and the stadium is still called Parque do Sabiá.
The inaugural match was played in May 1982, when the Brazilian national football team beat the Republic of Ireland 7-0.
The attendance record currently stands at 80 000, set on the inaugural match.
