Estádio do Pacaembu

Estádio do Pacaembu is a football stadium in São Paulo, located in the Pacaembu neighborhood. It is also known as Estádio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho and it is owned by the Municipal Prefecture of São Paulo. The stadium was inaugurated in April 1940 with the presence of the then Brazilian President Getúlio Vargas. The stadium holds 37 000 people. It is named after Paulo Machado de Carvalho. He was the 1958 FIFA World Cup Brazilian delegation chief, and was known as the Marshall of Victory. Football giants SC Corinthians Paulista are the only tenant of Estádio do Pacaembu.
