Estádio São Januário
Estádio São Januário is the home ground of CR Vasco da Gama. It is located in the Vasco da Gama neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Because of its position it is often named as Estádio da Colina, Hill's Stadium, what gave CR Vasco da Gama the nickname of Gigante da Colina, Hill's Giant. The stadium was inaugurated in April 1927, with the presence of Washington Luís. Estádio São Januário was the biggest stadium in Brazil until 1950. The capacity was reduced to 32 000. CR Vasco da Gama, owner of the stadium, is the only major football club from Rio de Janeiro to have its private stadium.
