Monumental Banco Pichincha
Monumental Banco Pichincha is a football stadium located in the parish of Tarqui in the north of Guayaquil. The stadium is the home to Barcelona SC, the club with the largest nationwide fanbase in Ecuador. The stadium was born from the initiative of its President Isidro Romero Carbo. He wanted Barcelona SC to have its own stadium. It was inaugurated in December 1987, and Barcelona SC's first game was against Spanish giants FC Barcelona, which Barcelona SC won 1-0. The stadium has a capacity of 89 000 spectators, making it one of the largest stadiums in South America. There are also healthcare facilities, souvenir shops, and restaurants.
