Estadio Cuscatlán

Estadio Cuscatlán is a football stadium located in San Salvador. It has a capacity of 45 000, making it the largest stadium in the country. The stadium is the home ground of the national football team of El Salvador as well as club teams Alianza FC and San Salvador FC. Construction began in March 1971 as the then president of El Salvador General Fidel Sánchez Hernández lay the first stone in order for construction to begin. After five years of building, the stadium was first opened and held its first game in July 1976. German champions Borussia Mönchengladbach played against the national team of El Salvador, a game which the German side won 2-0.
