Emirates Stadium

Emirates Stadium is a football stadium located in north London, just like the Lord's Cricket Ground, one of the major cricket stadiums in England. Emirates Stadium is the home of English football giants Arsenal FC since it opened in July 2006. It has an all-seated capacity of 60 000, making it one of the largest stadiums in England. During the planning and construction stages, it was known as Ashburton Grove before a naming rights deal with the airline Emirates was struck in October 2004. The stadium project cost £430 million, but not all was for the actual construction of the stadium itself. Before moving to Emirates Stadium, Arsenal FC used to play at the historical Highbury Stadium, with a maximum capacity of 38 000. Because the capacity became too small, the stadium too old and there was a lack of parking places, Arsenal FC decided to move to a new stadium.
