Weserstadion
The Weserstadion is a football stadium in Bremen. It is the home stadium of local football team Werder Bremen, one of the most successful German football teams. The club sells out almost every home game. The stadium is scenically situated on the north bank of the Weser River and is surrounded by lush green parks. The city center is not far away from the stadium. It presented a bid to be a host city in the 2006 FIFA World Cup which was ultimately turned down. The stadium opened in 1924. The recent capacity of the Weserstadion is 42 000, 10 000 of those places are standing places.
