Saitama Stadium
The Saitama Stadium is a football stadium located in Saitama. Japanese
football giants Urawa Red Diamonds uses this stadium as its home ground.
Built by Azusa Sekkei to host matches for the 2002 FIFA World Cup,
construction was completed in September 2001. The stadium holds 63 000
people, making it one of the biggest stadiums in Japan. During the 2002 FIFA
World Cup, Saitama Studium hosted four matches, including co-host Japan's
first match against Belgium. Omiya Ardija, Urawa Red Diamonds rival, hosted
matches at the Saitama Stadium due to expansion of its own stadium.
