Zvezda Stadium
Zvezda Stadium, during the Soviet Union known as the Lenin Komsomol Stadium, is a stadium in Perm. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Amkar Perm. The stadium holds 20 000 people and was opened in June 1969. The field was covered with artificial turf in 2005. FC Amkar Perm appeared in May 1993, when a team of Perm Mineral Fertilizers factory workers played the first match in a local cup tournament. The name Amkar is created from the words ammoniac and carbamide, the main products of the factory. The next year FC Amkar Perm became the champions of Perm Oblast and in 1995 it became a professional football club.
