Tehelné Pole
Tehelné Pole, meaning Brickfield, is the national stadium of Slovakia in Bratislava.
It is known as the home of
ŠK Slovan Bratislava, one of the most successful Slovak football clubs. The stadium has a capacity of 30 000 spectators and was built when Nazi Germany occupied Bratislava in 1938. It was officially opened in September 1940 with 25 000 places, and the first international match was played in October 1940, with ŠK Slovan Bratislava playing against the German side Hertha BSC Berlin, ending in a 2-2 tie. In 2005, Tehelné Pole was also used as the home of FC Artmedia Petržalka
in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup campaigns, as the club's own ground did not meet minimum standards for UEFA competitions.
