Jeonju World Cup Stadium
The Jeonju World Cup Stadium is a football stadium in Jeonju. It is the home of K-League club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. The stadium has a capacity of 43 000 and is nicknamed Jeonju Castle. It hosted several matches during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, held in Japan and South Korea. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors won the AFC Champions League title after they defeated the Syrian club Al-Karamah 3-2 in November 2006. It was the first club from South Korea to achieve it since the AFC Champions League was launched in 2003. The title guaranteed the club participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in December 2006.
