Estadio El Madrigal

Estadio El Madrigal is a football stadium in Villarreal. It is the home of Villarreal CF. The stadium, with 23 000 seats, was built in 1923. Due to the relative small size of the town, it is popularly said that the town is deserted when Villarreal CF plays. The stadium was inaugurated in June 1923 and named Campo del Villarreal, but it was renamed to its current denomination only two years later. There is a statue of a yellow submarine outside the stadium to represent the club's famous nickname, The Yellow Submarines. To be approved for the UEFA Champions League matches of Villarreal CF, the stadium had to be quickly renovated in 2005 to meet several regulations.
