Estadio del Mediterráneo

Estadio del Mediterráneo is a stadium in Almería, one of the Andalusian cities. It is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of UD Almería. It is also used for athletics and hosted the 2005 Mediterranean Games. The football stadium holds 23 000 and was built in 2004. UD Almería, the only tenant of the stadium, was founded in 1989 as Almería CF, but in 2001 the club was renamed to the recent name, UD Almería. The club promoted for its first time to La Liga, the highest league in Spanish football, in 2007.
