La Romareda
La Romareda is the name of the home of Real Zaragoza. It was inaugurated in September 1957 with a game between Real Zaragoza and CA Osasuna, which ended 4-3.
The stadium has gone through various upgrades. One of those upgrades was for the 1982 FIFA World Cup held in Spain. It became an all-seater stadium in 1994.
The official capacity is 34 000.
The construction of La Romareda was due to the efforts of the the mayor, Luis Gómez Laguna, and his succesor Cesáreo Alierta, who happened to be the president of Real Zaragoza. The previous ground of Real Zaragoza, with a capacity of only 20 000, was considered too small.
