Giants Stadium
Giants Stadium is the home
stadium for the Red Bull New York football team of MLS and the New York
Giants and New York Jets American football teams of the NFL. It is located
in East Rutherford in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, which also hosts the
Meadowlands Racetrack and the Izod Center. Maximum seating capacity is 80
000, making it one of the largest stadiums in NFL and MLS. The New York
Cosmos football team of the NASL moved to Giants Stadium for the 1977 season
and remained until the league folded in 1985. The club became known around
the world for signing the Brazilian football star Pelé. Nine games of the
1994 FIFA World Cup football tournament were held at Giants Stadium.
