McAfee Coliseum
McAfee Coliseum is the biggest stadium in Oakland. It is used for football, baseball and American football. It is also known as The Oakland Coliseum, or simply The Coliseum. The stadium was formerly known as Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and Network Associates Coliseum. In November 2007 the San Jose Earthquakes of the Major League Soccer announced they would be playing at the stadium. The team won the MLS Cup in 2001 and 2003, as well as the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2005. Following the 2005 MLS season in December of that year, the club was put on hiatus. The players and head coach Dominic Kinnear moved to Houston, where they played as the Houston Dynamo. In July 2007 it was announced that the San Jose Earthquakes would resume play starting in the 2008 season. The maximum capacity during home games of the San Jose Earthquakes at the McAfee Coliseum is 47 000. They play their bigger games at the McAfee Coliseum and other games at the smaller Buck Shaw Stadium.
